Zoe Jones - Shooting at Lake Vyrnwy, see artist profile for prints availableOne of our goals is to provide virtual space for Las Vegas artists and photographers to sell their art, prints, and to license images.  As time goes on, we’ll not only be serving the Las Vegas market, but the global one!

I recently installed Coppermine Gallery.  While I plan to use it on the site as a basic art gallery, I’m not very impressed with it. 

I have my eye on a PHP script that will serve our project well.  However, it’s a bit pricey for our current budget restrictions.  I’m sure eventually we’ll find a way to make it happen!

Regardless of which program we end up with, it must have strong SEO functionality, and multiple galleries need to be able to co-exist without cross linking to each other.  It should have “lightbox”-like functionality ( yes, since this original post I went ahead and installed Lightbox 2.0 ), auto water marking with an on/off option, and have a plethora of plugins.

If you know of a script that I might have missed, let us know!

The Feather Cue, Charlie Holm …do you enjoy the graphic arts?  We are interested in taking a look at new top banners for our website. 

The banner should be no wider than 770 pixels.  The theme should be tasteful and artistic, and does not have to match the current color scheme of our website.  Hint:  Gaming should **NOT** be a major part of the theme of the banner. 

After all, we have Valley of Fire, Redrock Canyon, and incredible desert landscapes within a few moments drive of Las Vegas.  Of course, art itself should be a part of the theme!

Submissions will be reviewed by three staff members.  If your banner is chosen, we will award a $50.00 prize, as well as give you proper credit on our credits page, with the possibility of work for hire as a web graphics artist.

To qualify, you must be a resident of Southern Nevada.  All submissions should be emailed to us no later than June 1st ( we may extend this date ).  We reserve the right to not select a banner.

Graphics should be done in Photoshop, Illustrator, or Corel Draw.  .jpg and original graphics files need to be submitted. 

Also, anyone incredibly ambitious might consider coding the whole top header, especially if the banner design is not squared.

So we ask:  To photoshop, or not to photoshop?
